Here is my collection of "good" watches. I decided to whip out the DSLR and take some pics. For the sake of conversation, I thought I'd tell the story behind each piece and the timeline of how I got where I am today. Hope you all enjoy!

Ever since I was a kid in grade school, I have subscribed to Automobile Magazine. Breitling took out an ad in within the first few pages and I fell in love with their complex dial layouts (namely the Navitimer I assume). I have no idea how I got into watches, but I knew someday I wanted a Breitling.

Fast forward to my 18th birthday. My grandmother was very generous to me and let me pick out a watch I wanted. My price range was limited to the Colt and SuperOcean lines. I decided to get the SO (on rubber) over the Colt because I liked how it was dive oriented with the coral dial (still to this day I shake my head knowing I paid full price…err my grandmother did).

Fast forward a few years later. I absolutely HATED my first job out of college. I decided, hell, if I'm busting my azz working this terrible job I might as well reward myself. In comes the Avenger. I still love this watch the same today as when I bought it new 3 years ago. I love mixing it up with the croc, Pro II, and DP III.

A few months later, I apparently had money burning a hole in my pocket. I had loved the Corum Admiral's Cup line for years, but did not care much for the current pieces/direction of styling. Too "unique" for me. I somehow found the watch I eventually bought listed for sale on a jewelers website. I pulled the trigger because I knew it might be awhile before another opportunity comes along. This watch has the most case detail out of any or the pieces I own. Truly great just to look at. This will probably be the only watch I'll ever buy used.

Then finally we have the Rolex Sub. Funny how just a few years ago I didn't give Rolex a chance and thought of it as an old man's brand. But the past couple of years I truly fell in love with the timelessness (no pun intended) of the piece. Well, at the end of March I passed a test for my job, and felt it was time to finally pull the trigger on a Sub as I have been saving up for quite a while. The thing about the Sub is, I think it almost looks more "fancy" or striking sitting in a jeweler's case than out in the wild on your wrist. You hear people say all the time how understated it is, but man, IT IS. EASILY the most comfortable watch I own.

It will probably be a solid 5-7 years before I can buy again (unless I strike it rich somehow), but I am happy with where I'm at.

There is my story. And now the pics:

I bought this on a DP I (still have it). I got some groovy NATOs for summer wear.

That's a great group! How much bigger does the avenger wear compared to the sub? Does it seem huge?

Yes. Haha. I wouldn't say the Avenger wears huge in terms of diameter but the thickness of the older models (compared to the current one) is unreal. I feel like it's about double the thickness of the Sub. It's like have a piece of steel sticking up a half inch off your wrist. After wearing the Sub for 3 weeks now, I think I've determined that how watches are supposed to feel.

Thanks!

I have always been intrigued by the Corum style. Like the case, bezel and dial, not there with the bracelet. They make some nice looking pieces.

Great pieces and great collection. Coral SO is still an awesome dial, the one watch I really regret selling :( .

That SO looks like a fun watch on that NATO.

Yeah, I did enhance the pics a bit so the dial isn't exactly, that vivid (as you know) but it's great to have something different in the collection.

It is! I'm still pretty young and neon colors are in these days with the kids. It's a great casual, drinking beers outside piece.
