I keep my travails with this little compulsion rather public, probably so that nobody considers me thoroughly insane ( a little bit, sure). I had put it out here that with the whole second-child-to-out-of-state-college thing coming up, I had set up three for the relative duration; My pre-Vendome IWC GST Aquatimer, my Headwind, and my new-to-me E series blue Sub. I had publicized that before I bought the bluesy, I also mentioned that made one last run at to buy the only Breitling my long-time watch guy owns--a Chrono-matic SE. He doesn't even wear it that much, but just the little bit I saw it, I was completely taken by it. He wouldn't sell, so I went forward with the bluesy.
A couple weeks later, member Vintage contacted me. He heard from someone (and whomever told him, thank you) that I was looking for a Chrono-matic SE. But I was, um, done, right? But it was box, papers, everything, and looked in fantastic condition. Negotiations were re-opened at home, with a nonplussed response. When I took it to the wall, consenting to sell something we both never thought I would to get this done, my wife realized the gravity of the situation and gave me the go-ahead.
The watch came in Wednesday night and debuted at dinner with Roff an Shark. I couldn't be more pleased.

I actually wore it to dinner on an aftermarket thin matte croc which also looks great.

Now I need to be done--for a while. Who am I kidding?
A couple final notes. Lest this post make my better half sound anything less than wonderful, she had in fact offered to have my all-gold wedding band of 25+ years modified to white gold, to match my watches. She had asked why the watches never seemed to match the ring but also sincerely offered an concession I could never take. I'm cool with a little gold and definitely cool with my 3. By the way she also did not place a deadline on my selling the Headwind, a matter of strategic discussion Friday night. Nah, better not push it, I'll put it up soon.
