I'm not generally the world's biggest coral dial lover, but that REALLY suits the Emergency IMHO, especially with the matching UTC. Very nice. Nice pics too!

Erm, I've been meaning to ask this a few times. What is a UTC and what is it for? I've looked on the internets and would like someone to explain it to me in plain English! Nice watch btw.. |

It is another clock. Allows setting another time zone for those who are more cosmopolitan than I am.

Apparently it was a compromise of sorts between CUT (coordinated universal time) in English and the French version TUC (temps universel coordonné). Essentially it officially replaced GMT as the "reference" time, and all timezones around the world are UTC+ or UTC- however many hours. There are a lot of very technical things to do with compensating for the Earth's rotation, but in real terms that means nothing at all to most of us! Just think of it as the same as GMT and you can't go far wrong! The UTC module on a Breitling is just another mini watch face that traditionally would've kept UTC whilst the main watch face would be set to local time. All stuff to do with flying............ apparently! |
