Post subject:  The right size for me?

So I've always been a fan of big watches, typically in the 47-50mm range, but I guess as I've matured, I'm starting to move away from them. I have small wrists (6.75 inches) and was getting tired of the size of my Super Avenger, especially as a daily wearer. So recently, I decided to trade it in for an Avenger.

It definitely wears better, much more comfortable since it's not as top heavy as the SA, but I'm not sure if it still looks too big on me?
What do you guys think?

Looks good to me, use your own judgement because you will get 50/50 opinions on here. I have 7" wrists and 6 super avengers I wear everyday, don't give a s*** what people think

As WN says you'll get all views and the bottom line is if you like the look and think it's comfortable then who cares. FWIW I think the Avenger still looks a tad too big and would intuit that the fact that you're asking suggests you think it might be too.

Also, I always think that these wrist shots and ensuing discussions dwell on width at the expense of thickness (no tittering at the back). With a watch like that the thickness is just as material to comfort and look.

I think its about right. SA is too big, I agree, but the Avenger is about right.

Good choice on a swapout and if you came to that decision by yourself, then I would suggest that you know what you are doing. 3/4 is good, but I will stretch it out to 7/8 wrist size myself on case diameter. I think they look great at that size.

Thickness is a real aspect to bigger watches, and I agree with Tom. Its not easy to see from wrist shots how the watch sits. If it feels balanced OK, then it will be OK. If it feels awkward and top heavy then maybe its too big.

:yeahthat

On the larger diameter watches, I tend to think the thinner ones look a little better and balanced on the wrist.

Definitely a good move. The Avenger looks like an over-sized watch that fits, where as the SA.... Yeah good switch. :lingsrock:

Yes, I think you are right, although it is sometimes amazing to see what effect a well resolved design can do on a wrist, even when its very thick. In some cases its less noticable that the thinkness is playing a big part in the oversize. I agree in the main, that thickness is often overlooked as an issue when assessing if a watch is too big.

Agree. Maybe still a little big for my taste but it's a taste qn with the avenger. The SA was just way too big.

I think forearms is a key part of pulling off the SA - if you have big guns but a relatively small wrist it can work really well

I have a 7inch wrist and feel good about the SA - in saying that though I absolutely do not wear it to work ( shirt & tie environment)

Completely agree.

Post subject:  Wearing 39-42 mm Lings on my 6.75" wrist:

I'm surely of the minority opinion here... Having a 6.75" wrist too, my largest Ling is 42 mm (CSOI.), with the smallest being the CC (39mm) and both color combos of the GP in between with 40 mm. I think that these watches are the proportionate sizes for this size of wrist and reject following each-n-every fashion trend, a. o. the large watch hype. But hey, it's just me. Enjoy!

Both SA's looks good. Like what everyone has said, it's up to what you like. I have a couple of larger watches like the Navitimer World. They are great to wear. Because of their size and my wrist size they become cumbersome in certain situations or my wardrobe choice. So to over come this, have a second smaller watch to rotate from "normal size" to "preferred size." It's always good advice to have at lease three watches: dress watch, sport watch and a tool watch. It's your style statement.
