Post subject:  my 2 watches and new bezel on my SA

well i bought a breitling off my friend as my first one and thought i got a pretty good deal.i paid $2200(he was in need of money bad) with a 3carat bezel.its a superocean.then i got sick of it.it looks to small on my wrist,bc i'm a big dude.i'm 6'1 about 240lbs.so then i started looking for a brand new watch.i feel in love with the SA.so i bought a SA with a white face.i paid $3600.wish i would found this website before i purchased it and saved alot of money on my SA.i've had the SA for about 3 weeks now and i spoke to Mario and asked him about a good place for a bezel and he told me to check Liori on ebay.so i did that and lucky they located 15 mins away from me.so i went their today and purchased a bezel for the time being.i talked him down from $1000 to $750 cash.they have nice bezels i tell you.i highly recommend them to all you guys.all their bezels spin unlike other bezels on ebay .well heres pics of my 2 watches for now, waiting for my watch winder in the mail.....

Nice diamonds! I´ve been thinking about picking up a similar bezel myself from Liori.

Is it possible for you to take some close ups on the bezels (without flash) so you can see the details?

Oh, and you might want to publish your pics in the Gallery section - much more people will see them there...

The SO looks like a totally different watch. I like it though. The diamond look is growing on me. I think Breitling watches pull off the diamond bezel look very nicely.

Some interesting facts about prices. I bought my SS Chronomat Evolution in Spring 2007 (before May price increase) when list price on Pilot bracelet was $4835 USD. (bracelet list was $1000 USD at that time, croco straps $400 USD without deployant) The optional factory diamond bezel listed for another $4500 USD. Total list price (US dollars) for the piece on bracelet was $9335 USD. The A70177 UTC module had just been discontinued and I snagged the last black dial module (Grenchen redialed it to slate for me from parts holding) which had a list price of $850 USD. Probably would be well over $1000 list if still in production today. In late May of this year, the list price of the Evo (now just "Chronomat") on bracelet had increased to $5840 USD. The Pilot bracelet by itself had increased another $100 to $1100 list. The diamond bezel had increased from $4500 to $6320 in a little over a year, a jump of more than 40%. Total package price for my Evo (not including the UTC module) had increased from $9335 USD to $13010 USD in one year, an increase of just under 40%. Having received a fair discount from my AD at the time, I feel very lucky to have snagged the piece before the phenomenal price increases. Actually, it was a 60th birthday gift from wifey and she insisted at the time. LOL. Point is, I'm not sure the huge price disparity when compared to aftermarket bezels is commensurate with quality. The factory bezels utilize perfectly matched Top Wesseltons which are VVS in clarity and D-E (colorless) in color meaning they are near flawless and the settings are perfect as well but for the price difference with aftemarket you could buy a new Avenger Skyland with the money saved... :)
Cheers,
Ron

Holy cow Ron - that puts it in perspective!!!

I wonder how much a custom aftermarket bezel to factory specs would cost - sounds like there would still be a disparity in the $1,500+ range.

Hi, Mario. No, the surface contrast between the individual rider tabs and the one piece factory diamond set bezel seems sharper when comparing it to the standard Evo bezel for some reason. Bit of an optical illusion I think. First shot below is from a different perspective which may help you discern the detail a little better. BTW, I am still waiting for my back ordered "Long" UTC specific black croco strap for the watch. The croco seems so much dressier than the bracelet to me. I'm looking forward to attaching the UTC/black croco kit onto the piece and wearing it to some special occasion where a "dress" watch is considered to be a non-chrono wafer thin yellow gold piece on a thin brown croco strap. Hahahahaha!!
Cheers,
Ron
