Looks like 3rd time is the charm. I had two SWs prior to this but they were the 35mm Zodiac variety. Really like the look, but could not get used to how small and how thin it was. Zodiac may have had the name first, but I think Breitling perfected the "tool watch" with this one. Pretty darn thick and chunky. Feels like I could knock somebody out with it. For this one the hunt has really been a thrill and taken quite a while. Long before the wolf was on my radar I wanted an orange or yellow SuperOcean, the orange lust faded and I concentrated on yellow for a bit, and then briefly thought about some of the other yellow dialed Breitlings. Once I saw the SW in person I was hooked. I had what I thought was a really good deal a while back and like most of those things it was. Seller did not seem legit and found same pix or strange auction sites. I passed. Been hunting and stalking ebay/TZ for a long time....never the right one. Made offers on some where people had them listed around $3K but they always declined what I thought was reasonable - no biggie I surely did not NEED another watch. Early last week one was on ebay just about an hour from my house on bracelet with Pro 1 diver as well. I did not want either strap/bracelet I wanted it on OR. Lots of back and forth with the seller about a purchase outside of ebay and even just the head no strap/bracelet. I considered buying it and trying to sell the bracelet to fund the OR. Could not come to terms on price and they guy pulled it with a day left and over 20-some bids. Guess he was not getting what he wanted for it - relisted now...stinks for the bidders he left hanging. On Thrus/Fri of last week I start up with an ebay seller in NY. Very nice condition, on black OR and get this he is coming to a business lunch on last Friday to a golf course less than 10 minutes from where I work. He says he will throw it in the car and let me look it over. Original owner watch if only 1.5 years old. This really seemed too good to be true. How could I pass; this seemed destined to be mine if it was coming to visit just one city away. Initial impressions are very positive. It wears a bit heavy even on rubber but I think that is more a factor of the OR being cut too small for my wrist. I can get it on, but it is tight. Probably have to give Govberg a call and line up some new rubber for it. The yellow really pops and I love, love, love the big silver numbers. The crown and crown guard while a small detail are spot on with the tool theme. My SF has the arrow second hand this this one being square is some nice variety. Speaking of the SFish I think they are a lot alike, so not feeling quite as overwhelmed with the SW as I was the SF after the first few days...but then the SF was my first "nice" watch ever. I'm not a diver but seem to have a thing for them. You all think SteelFish and Seawolf are too much alike? I can't see myself ever parting with the fish. I wore the SW all weekend and again today, hardly goes with my work clothes but who cares. |

Congrats Rich! Looks awesome and with the road you described to get it - all the better and worth the wait. Always liked the SW design but just too large and heavy for me. I have off and on looked for the yellow SO from earlier years, still on my radar actually. I have space for a diver in my inventory for this summer (have a DP II w/deployant ready) , see if anything new comes out at Basel. Enjoy! |

Looks great. I have a silver dial on diver pro II and am very happy with it, and if they were a grand less I'd probably consider getting what you just bought. The SW I believe will be my every day watch for a very long time, and if that's what happens I could see myself getting another to change things up a little, but feel the exact same. I liked it on the bracelet, but much prefer to wear it on rubber. ![]() |

Great story and lead-up to that beautiful Seawolf. I still love the Seawolf. I had two. One with a black dial, then the one like yours with the yellow dial. In the end, the watch was just too big for me. Still crave it once in a while, though. The yellow is really the cat's ass, I think. It is one of the most beautiful coloured dial watches I have seen. It looks great with the black rubber contrasting strap. Still look at the large watches now and then. I suppose if I ever decide to go big again, I will take a crack at anothe Seawolf. Maybe my 3rd will be the lucky one for me, and the one I keep! Great pics and write-up! Cheers, Carl |
