So my SF went on vacation and graciously agreed to let me come along. Actually it was a birthday present for my wife. She thought we were going on a sailboat for 10 days but I surprised her with 3 days ashore at a very small island right in the middle of the trip. Lots of great weather and plenty of photo ops. Unfortunately, reviewing the results I see I have a long way to go as a watch photographer. It really is darn hard to get a great shot of a watch. Envious of some of you out there that consistently have great shots out in the wild. Managed to get some underwater shots with the SF in its designed element, but underwater photography is even harder than on land. Fortunately the turtles fared better than my watch. Saw the Rolex flag on the locals boat and knew I had to snap that for you all. No luck with Breitling flags or clocks in the airports. All pix are throughout the Grenadine islands. The ones on land are at Petite Saint Vincent. If you ever want to get away that is the place to go. Private island only 173 acres no TVs, no radios, no telephones you communicate with the staff via notes in a bamboo tube by raising a flag. They will bring you just about anything you want. The days I was there only about 25 guests with a staff of around 125. Did not want to come back home There is one picture of my Planet Ocean...I had to wear it it matched my shirt and the lobster. |

Great Holiday and great watch. You are both very lucky to be treated to a 3 day island say. Love those rider tabs on the SF. Best definition of all Ling models I think. Jim |

Thanks for the comments. For anyone interested in boats this was our "little" 73 foot home for 7 of the 10 days. Made on a local island by hand in 2000 the same way boats were for 100s of years earlier. There were all sorts of axe and saw marks throughout the boat. Pretty cool compaired to all the plastic catamarans that were more the norm in that area. Second picture is one of our neighbors for two different nights at different anchorages. It is a private boat (monstrosity) complete with bay doors that open to tons of dive gear and any water toy you can imagine. Even though I think it is pretty ugly I must admit having a helocopter on your boat is pretty darn slick. The second day we saw them they took the helo for a spin around the island....life is tough on the road. I'd make a pretty bad paparazzi; even with my longest zoom lense I could not stalk the owners and see if they were famous...just the staff all dressed alike. ![]() Jambalaya by rplace13, on Flickr ![]() DSC_0330 (Medium) by rplace13, on Flickr |
