Back in the fall, there was some discussion on one of the threads concerning Panamerican Bronze dials. There seemed to be a variety of perceptions about the actual nature of this particular dial color, particularly in contrast to Havana Brown. Various renderings and photos available on the web offer a confusing picture -- in some photos, it appears to be a light/gray shade, in others, it appears to be much darker.

When I finally had the chance to visit the NYC Boutique in November, I asked to see the TOC with Panamerican Bronze dial. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that it was actually a fairly rich color, and had a dark character -- as opposed to the lighter/grayer shade that I had seen in various renderings on the Breitling website. It sounds as if Wessa had this same experience when he visited the Hong Kong Boutique, as well.

My own TOC in Panamerican Bronze arrived this past week, and I have now lived with it for a while. I love this color -- its fundamental character is a rich one, and it subtly changes its appearance depending on the lighting conditions. I have to say that it really is "bronze" in tone, and differs from a pure brown. While it can appear relatively "lighter" in direct sunlight, or, particularly, under electric lights, it never really loses that richer, dark quality. I decided to pair the TOC with a gold calf strap to complement the richer, bronze tone.

In any event, here are a few photos, taken in different lighting conditions. If anyone else has examples of Panamerican Bronze (or, for that matter, Havana Brown) that they'd like to share, that would be great!

Here's one in the shade...

That really is a great looking dial! A nice break from the normal white/silver, black and blue.

Thanks for adding that one to the thread 56scooter. It's a beauty! I also love the bi-compax look on the Navi.

I've seen the Datora in a similar shade before. Very striking.

I know I've said it before, but you've got quite the Transocean collection

I think that, of all the Breitlings out there, the one that strikes the deepest chord with me is the Top Time (ref. 810). Its modern re-incarnation -- the Transocean Chronograph -- is, without a doubt, my favorite Breitling of the current line-up.
