when I'm shooting these "floater" shots. Even when using a lot of color, the black backgrounds help pop out the extra details making them more easily discernable. Works very well with black and white also I think. These two seem to illustrate the point fairly well. Shot the black face Navi on Friday, the white Cossie earlier this year.
