Post subject: | Any pics of blue or black faced Colts (Automatic II)? |
Hi guys, similar topics were on this forum for ages: I am considering purchasing Colt Automatic II on a steel bracelet and struggle with the choice of the dial colour. Want to wear it pretty much everywhere, office, beach, etc. All three look fantastic to me, but after lots of consideration I managed to reject cream faced one (this one would look great with the suit, but may be a bit too "tame" if worn with jeans and T-shirt). I quite like blue one because it looks very different depending on the light, but not sure how the blue face would fit in the office, with the black suit? Or will I get bored with blue after a year? My girlfriend said the blue one looks "cheaper" than the black one, I agreed with her at that time (black always works), but just yesterday I passed the shop window again -- still not sure. So, can anyone post some pics, preferably wristshots of the Colt Automatic II with blue or black face? Thanks a lot in advance! |

![]() ![]() I have worn this with just about any clothes/situation combination you can imagine. The Watch just fits in and I like this watch in black. The face color against the large hands makes it easy to read it in any light you will encounter. The ease of changing the strap changes the whole look and thus what it will do for you. Hope this helps, Best health, Frank |

Christ, even your wrist shots look amazing. Are you a pro or is watch collecting a secondary avocation???? |

Thanks a lot Frank, the photos look fantastic!! Agree that the watch looks quite differently with the leather strap, and the black one is more versatile in this case -- can be worn with black or brown leather. The blue faced Colt will probably need a blue strap, which I am not a big fan of.. And the black dial can be a bit easier to read than the blue one -- more contrast. Still tough choice though ![]() |

I have the blue face. It looks great on the Pro II (obviously) and it does nicely on a brown calf strap, as well. I don't have any pictures (it's on the bracelet right now), and I'm confident that, after seeing Frank's, you don't want to get what I could snap on my BlackBerry camera at the moment. I work in a professional environment and the blue gets lots of compliments. It really does vary with the lighting, which is nice. I initially thought I would get black, but when I compared the two, the blue was surprisingly nice. Incidentally, I'm thinking about selling mine (purchased from AD in summer 2010, all boxes papers, etc.) in order to diversify my "collection" (consisting, right now, of this Colt II Auto). I don't want to get rid of it, but I want to get a proper dress watch and, in order to facilitate that purchase, I would get a slightly more downmarket (quasi)diver (like a Longines Hydroconquest, for example). PM me if you have any interest. Apologies to mods if this broke any thread- or forum-specific rules. |
