Ron,

The watch is lovely, and looks superb on the leather (though on a Diver Pro 1, even better imho), and top pics...

but...

the cufflinks are just too much!!

There has to be a story in there somewhere - never seen anything quite like those before.

Second to none again Ron, just amazing pics. If I win the lottery, I will commission you to do shoots for all my pieces which will certainly be a large number in such circumstances!

Hi, Mike. Here is a shot of those cufflinks with my B-1 wearing an OEM croco...

The vintage cufflinks are sterling silver and they accurately replicate the famous Wright "Cyclone" radial aircraft engine. This particular 7 cylinder version was designated R-1300. The 9 cylinder Cyclones were R-1820's, the 14 cylinder Cyclones (double rows of 7) were R-2600's and the 18 cylinder Cyclones (double rows of 9) were R-3300's, each version numbered by referencing the engine's displacement in cubic inches. Along with the famous Pratt & Whitney radial aircraft engines, the various Cyclones powered many, many civilian and military aircraft from the 1930's through the 1950's and continue flying today right through the "jet age". The cufflinks were made by "Hickock" only in the mid 1940's and as you would imagine, are quite rare today. I acquired them from an Ebay seller who dealt with estate sales and antiques. I had been looking for a pair of aviation oriented cufflinks and just happened to find these earlier this year. I've never seen anything like them and would be well surprised to see another pair. Anyway, you may be right saying they are "just too much" but I will tell you that when I wear them they always attract compliments and commentary. Most say the same thing you did, they have never seen anything "quite like" them. :)

Speaking of unusual cufflinks, last year I had a pair hand made for me by a guy in Toronto, Canada. I wanted something unique to match the slate dials on my Chronomat Evolution and its UTC module. He used raw Newfoundland slate cut and polished and crafted into antique Underwood typewriter keys backed by sterling silver cufflink locks. I've posted this pic before but if you havn't seen those cufflinks, here they are... 8)
Best,
Ron

Dear Ron,

The slate links are much more restrained 8) . Typewriter keys, what next!!

But the Cyclones are fantastic, and a great find (on the much maligned e-bay). If they're not unique, they're as rare as rocking horse poo, and I'm suitably jealous!

And, at the risk of hero-worship overkill, fantastic photos too..
