Thought I'd try an aftermarket croco (print ?) from a seller on the 'Bay. Can't compare it to an OEM croco strap because there is absolutely NO comparison unless apples and oranges are the same vegetable....
Best,
Ron

How do you like the strap itself?

Hi, Justin. Well, the strap itself appears to look fairly nice but IMO the look is misleading. Aside from the fact there is essentially no padding in the strap, the edges are rolled poorly and show slight separation in some places. The keepers are so flimsy I do not expect them to last for any reasonable period of time. The stitching is narrow gauge and looks about as robust as the keepers. Actually, without the addition of the Bund pad from my KHS "Raptor", this strap appears even more fragile (?). When you put it on the wrist, the buckle scrapes the strap noticeably and the tongue doesn't flex well into the keepers. I also admit that the Bund pad and a good camera help take up some of the strap's slack... Bottom line, I won't be wearing this strap and will remove it now that I have a couple of pics of it. Maybe I'm spoiled rotten by the OEM crocos (which have become outrageously expensive now) or maybe I need to try one of those "BOB" croco straps I've seen advertised. Hopefully some of our members have tried a "BOB" (or other inexpensive croco) and will chime in here with an opinion.

Thanks for the info Ron, while I always love your pics, you have the best props hands down, I agree the OEM croco is wayyyy expensive. I'll be in one at some point, right after I find one on Ebay cheap!

My Chronomat needs some new shoes!

My primary school education must have sucked - they taught us apples and oranges were fruits. :poke:

Yep, I'm with you trying to find a new (authentic!) OEM croco on the 'Bay but I honestly think we'll have better luck on the fora sales corners. :)

Well, I had the camera out this morning and decided to take a couple more shots before retiring the poor little bugger...
Best,
Ron

As always, awesome pics Ron , the latest are stunners.

For a moment there, I thought that the pictured F-51 bore the Greek Air Force c/s but since the Greeks never had Mustangs, I had to look twice to see it was from El Salvador
