Bought my first Breitling this afternoon 8) :D
Very chuffed so thought I'd do a little unboxing thread...probably nothing exciting for you guys as there are loads of SAs on here. But seeing as it's my first Ling and proper "luxury" watch I'm a little excited.

I met a guy off another watch forum and was meant to buy his used Super Avenger, but upon inspection it was in a poorer condition than he advertised and he misplaced the warranty booklet and COSC certificate.

With my heart set on getting an SA, I shopped around Central London and Westfield. The only places that seemed willing to discount were Ernest Jones and Goldsmiths. DM Watches Selfridges could only offer a pityful free strap, DM watches in Westfield only 5%.

I wanted the black baton, but none were in stock and with a 6-8 week wait, I settled for the Arabics with a 15% deal at Ernest Jones.
I didn't like the SS as it was too blingy for me so I opted for a diver pro II, they didn't have the deployment version so I had to settle for the buckle for time being, with a bigger discount.

Anyway, talking aside, pics...

Next to my U-Boat Classico 53 AS1 (makes it look more like an Avenger than a Super  )

Questions:
1. Can anyone recommend a UK AD who can do some good deals on straps. I want to buy a leather and a Diver Pro II deployment strap.

2. Is it possible (or even wise) to remove the AR coating on the watch? I read that you can do this by using Cape Cod polishing cloths. I'm not really feeling how the coating makes the black dial look blueish under some lighting.

3. Anyone recommend the correct strap removing tool for an SA

Congrats!

To be honest, I like the arabic numerals better than batons.

I agree with Beyond Man. For avengers it's better in arabics.
Comparing with your U-boat the superavenger looks like a skyland.
Welcome and hope you enjoy your watch many many years.

Good choice Sir 8) Click on the Andrew Michaels link at the top of the page, ask for Sam and you should be able to get the straps of your choice next day, hopefully with a discount

I've had 2 cracking deals from Westfield on Breitlings. Both in the sales.

Thought DM London had changed to 'Time 2' or something?

Congrats on the new purchase. So you like BIG watches, huh?

As for your questions, I have no idea about removing the AR coating, personally I kinda like how it make the black dial look. The correct tool for changing the strap is a Bergeron 6767f, if you serch that you'll find a post somewhere with a link to a place in the UK to get one, I forgot what it is. As far as a UK dealer to get a strap from, two popular places in the UK on this forum are Banks & Lyon and Andrew Michaels. Both links are at the top of this page, but I'm sorry I don't know exactly where they are. Again, congrats on the purchase.
