I think it would be an awesome idea, if there was a specific sticky thread for each series of watches in the gallery section. I.E. a navitimer sticky, a chronomat, an avenger, a superocean, an airwolf, etc etc...

This would be in order to narrow down and consolidate pictures of each pieces and would make it easier for people to find pictures that they are curious to look at. Just a suggestion.

what do you all think?

I voted 'yes' but realise that it may take a bit of work to do but I still think its a good idea!

Cheers

If I were the admin I would point out you can search the gallery by watch name and get a list of threads. But since I am not the admin and pretty lazy - I yoted "YES!"

I won't be surprised if someone comes along to insist that the forum is precisely, 100% perfect in current state and shouldn't be changed in any way ever, ever...but I think this is a good idea. Some people may get some use out of this, and it'll take about no time to impliment.

I'm not sure these new threads should be stickies, as you'll end up with the entire first page being stickies. How about this: Make a single sticky thread which has links to all the "official" photo threads for each type of watch.

If you're looking for pictures of a particular watch, this is nowhere near as convenient as having a thread dedicated to "Airwolf."

And that's why I voted "YES." But I'm not the one who has to redesign the website, that's all.

Starting a couple dozen new threads and tagging one or several of them as stickies is not a redesign of the site. That's a half hour of work, at most; it'll only take that long if someone's a slow typer or on a lousy connection.

My only concern with multiple stickies would be the number of them.

The search function does allow you to only search topic titles, and there are dedicated pages for each watch in the models section of the site.

That said, I have no particular views either way if admin wants to make the change.

I voted yes only because sometimes when using the search function it sometimes gives just what you don't want. I've searched for Avenger and I get a million hits for Super Avenger. When I would search for Superocean Chrono it wouldn't search for the chrono part because it's to common. All that being said it doesn't bother me. Nothing is perfect and this site does more things that I like than don't like. Either way, I'm good.

WUS for instance has a really good search function. I agree with Roman searching here has it's limits. Still - in sum - this site is far superior to sites like WUS and TZ for simply browsing topics and reading threads. Thumbs up to the admin.

Another thing that helps on the searches is using the (+ or -) and especially the word terminator *. Searching +Superocean +Chrono* in the gallery gets you plenty of hits. For some reason leaving the asterick off "chrono" leaves the word out of the search.
