I think this watchmaking this is starting to stick with me - I find myself looking at the movement to try and see the condition of everything ![]() Nice Mark, the value for money on these pieces is just outstanding. |

This was under 100.00 us. The thing that moves this up a knotch is the screw set jewels. A 17 jewel watch is an ok movement, the way this is built is cool. The Railroad watches of the day were 21 jewel. This is a 1926 model size 14 (I think) Still learning how to use my book to Id these. Probably in need of a cleaning and oiling. ![]() |

Looks like a 14 from the movement - you can buy a gauge for under $10. That's a great dial and hands also. The movement does look dirty, but it's a simple task to strip it down, clean it, reassembe and oil it. I'd offer to do it for you, but would probably break something ![]() |

I'll wait until you have some practice. I am sure you will be repairing watches with the best of them soon. I am starting to catch the Pocket watch bug a little too. I have been keeping my eyes open for them. One thing for sure it is easy to pay to much for them. There is a lot of things to look for......... I usually send pictures to my father but he is not a computer guy and is slow to respond so sometimes I have to give it my best guess. I think I did ok on this one. It is being shipped to me this week. |

Your dad has more knowledge and experience than me, but if you want any thoughts on a specific watch feel free to ask. I have a reasonable collection of pocket watches - I'm more familiar with US, but getting there on the Europeans. |

I will use you as a resource thank you for offering. I am armed with a Complete guide to watches book and I am sure that I could get some useful information out of it. I just need to set down and read the thing. MY father is a "just take it apart you'll figure it out" kinda guy. I guess that's how his mentor taught him. I am sure there was more to it than that though. I wasn't exposed to pocket watches as much since he is in Iowa and I am in Phoenix. I look forward to exploring this new avenue. I can use some help. Thanks I appreciate the offer. Best, Mark |
