Great watch! I have the same one.

Now, please align that bezel before anyone sees it...

Actually, that positioning is great for preventing the riders from catching on sweaters and French cuffs.

My dear Colonel,

The "bezel issue" is a topic over which there have been countless
arguments and discussions in the past few months. I have been
sworn to silence by the powers that be under threats of banishment
and even possible emasculation. I suggest you ask either Driver8
or Roffensian to enlighten you. I'm sure they would be happy to. :?

Well, somebody should enlighten the good Colonel, Bnewbie.
Since I don't dare do it -- and our glorious leaders don't seem
so inclined -- why don't you take it upon yourself to explain the
situation to the poor fellow? He's obviously dying of curiosity and
deserves the truth. :? Go ahead...tell him.

Confucius (might have) said, "If we have to tell you the truth, you are not ready for the truth".

Confucius also (might have) said, "To be symmetrical of watch is to be symmetrical of spirit".

Confucius could also possibly have said (in a rare moment of sobriety), "The path to spiritual enlightenment is beset by those who misalign their bezels and bring chaos to the beauty of perfection. Cast aside their random brutalisation of aesthetic purity and align for the good of mankind".

Did you get all of that, Colonel? One hopes that you're above
such nonsense, and have the courage to wear your Breitlings
as you see fit. I don't dare say anymore, for fear of being deleted.
Good luck, my friend... and in case you don't hear from me again,
it was an honor and a pleasure knowing you for such a brief
time. I salute you, sir. :)

 Aaaaaah come on Steve - as if either myself (Driver the Benevolent) or Roff the Benign would ever abuse our powers of deletion just because you choose to fly a different path??? I'm shocked, and stung to the core no less, by such an accusation. And I thought we were friends....... I'm going to go and cry somewhere now.

Oh, Driver, Driver, Driver...

Your crocodile tears will have no effect on me  you know that.
But let's leave our personal distresses out of the discussion, for the
moment. More important is that we let the good Colonel know
that he is a welcome member of our little group, no matter how he
aligns his bezel. If he chooses to be an Immaculate Aligner, so
be it. I will graciously accept his decision. I just want him to know
he has the freedom of dissent on this forum. :)

As to the decay of our friendship, Driver, it is I who should be in tears, not you.
To think that you actually believe I would let mere politics interfer with a beautiful
relationship! I am crushed, Old Bean, crushed. It was you, my dear chap, who first
welcomed me to this forum, made me feel at home. I won't forget that. :) :)

However, that will not prevent me from venting from time to time. You
know that. Anyway, it's time I get ready to go to Scrabble Club.
Do you play Scrabble, Driver? Britain has a number of world-class
players; I've had the pleasure of being beaten by them a number of
times in tournaments over here. Anyway, ciao for now.

Steve

As I dab a tear away from my eye, I can only wish you all the best in tonight's Scrabble exploits and hope that you manage to get the word "Quartzy" which is I believe the highest scoring english word in Scrabble. :D

You deserve the win Steve.

Thank you kindly for those eloquent words of explanation, your generosity is only exceeded by your personal beauty. Just one small question though...........................what is a BEZEL ??????????

Only joking chaps.....thought you'd like that :D

Your jolly banter has indeed created a warm feeling of welcome within me and I look forward to engaging in verbal combat with you all within the confines of this most efficacious communication medium.

Your most humble servant

Driver,

Sadly, the word "quartzy" is not allowed in American Scrabble (I just
checked the OWL -- Official Tournament and Club Word List -- our
Bible). :( :( I know, I know, that's absurd. But you should know something
about the international Scrabble scene. America, I believe,
is still the only country that doesn't use the British word list, as well
as the American list. I think most of our players are just too lazy
to learn the 40,000 or so extra words in your list. I'm all for using
both lists, as are a lot of serious players, but we always get voted
down. God, I'm really getting away from watches, aren't I? :?

Anyway, I've really got to hit the road. Talk to you later. :)

Steve

:) I've been following the thread so innocently started by Gazruss a few weeks ago (By the way, super watch Gazruss) and my opinions have been swayed in turn by the comments of Drax and Driver8.
Stunned by the realization that the bezel on my watch would actually turn, I attempted to rotate it in an endeavor to appreciate Drax's point of view.

However, to my dismay, I found that the bezel REFUSED TO ROTATE CLOCKWISE and as it had now become an obsession to hear the "cliCK, cLICK, CLICK" so eloquently described by Drax, this was the final straw :tmi:

You will be relieved to know that I have resolved this small problem and now have a watch with a spinning bezel that never gains a second and is totally accurate twice a day.

Which just goes to show how much you can learn on this Forum
