So I was at the Breitling flagship store in New York City on 57th street the other day to purchase the new limited edition blacksteel deployant buckle for my Super Avenger Blacksteel, you know, that 48mm monster. It was prety expensive but was it ever so pretty indeed. I fell in love with it for three major reasons. 1) Like a lot of us on here I too wanted to satisfy my quest to somehow..... SOMEHOW find a blacksteel bracelet from any source....or die trying to make one. For me personally, getting this Blacksteel deployant buckle was a major step because it was an exact match for the watch. Some have gone the route of DLCing a stainless steel super Avenger, and there are pictures posted on this gallery. As Driver8 had mentioned in his response to one such person, DLC will rub off or scratch the other DLC surface points that are coming into contact with each other. DLC is a very hard coating and I believe that it will take a very long time for it to wear off, also depending on how often the person wears the watch with such a DLC coated bracelet. But I say if wear and scratching occurs, simple throw away the bracelet and buy another one and have it DLCd again. Wash, rinse, repeat. Problem solved! Another factor to consider, brought up by Driver8 is that you may not get an exact color match, as was pointed out in the picture. I for one MAY be able to live with that, most people can't...I guess.
2) The second reason for getting this deloyant buckle was because it was so well made and extremely sturdy too. 3) My third reason was that if I at least got the genuine Blacksteel deployant buckle, even if I went ahead and attached DLCd links from a Stainless steel Super Avenger, assuming they fit inside the enclosure of the Blacksteel deployant buckle and the holes on the end piece of the DLCd bracelet lined up with the holes of the deployant buckle, it would actually look perfect on the watch as a whole because it would be 'sandwiched' between the watch and the buckle, as if the bracelet links were meant to be a different shade of black from an aesthetic point of view, and the watch and deployant buckle was meant to be another shade of black. Of course I would then have to throw away the original deployant buckle that came with the stainless steel bracelet.
So with all this in mind, and being sooooo in love with this new Blacksteel deployant buckle that totally matched my Blacksteel super avenger (the rubber strap also matched incredibly), I posed the question to the Breitling rep after first mentioning just how many people, actually hordes of people, would do ANYTHING if Breitling would just go ahead and make a Blacksteel bracelet of the same flavor as these Blacksteel watches. And here's the response I got from her: "If enough people make such a request, we will actually consider it". My AD later in the day told me that Breitling is known to listen to it's customers requests. So guys.......how about if enough of us call up or write Breitling and make this request. We want them to make a Blacksteel bracelet for the various Blacsteel watches with a connecting piece that is either 22mm or 24mm depending on the width of the lugs. I know I'm going to be pestering them a lot on this issue.
Here are some pictures of my Super avenger Blacksteel with the new Blacksteel deployant buckle. I left the plastic on it so as to prevent it from scratching, although from what I hear, it's pretty tough. So lets all push for this carbon Nitrite Blacksteel bracelet.
