The Breitling Watch Source Forums

After admiring a friends Breitling (90's Colt) for several years I became enamored with the Idea of owning a luxury watch. I was wearing an entry level Movado-sport (quartz) which I had purchased at a warehouse store.

I started looking at enty level Tags. My budget was approximately 1/3 of what I would eventualy spend. I discovered that Tag's were very easy to locate.....The major mall alone in my area had three stores selling tags all with the same selection and the same secret price that was only availale to me and only today. Ther are probably fifty stores within 20 miles of me where you can buy a Tag. After seeing these upclose and personal and deciding that only an Automatic (Tag) would do, it was clear that my budget was going to need to double (at least).

There is only one AD for Breitling in Seattle Washington. This sounded pretty exlusive (read expensive) and sort of intimidated me. Never the less, I was going to go see what a Breitling dealership looked like. I leaned on the glass case and took in the bling....I passed over the chonographs and went straight to the watches....I settled on a relatively plain looking straight watch with a beautiful blue face and the shiniest SS bracelet I could imagine.....Which one is that I asked...."Super-Ocean" she said...... That sounded really cool......Soooooper O-shun... I liked the sound of it. I could not believe the weight. The thickness was at that time just massive to me. (and it was only a little over three times my original budget, yikes) But....I was hooked.....and out the door I went with a beautiful catalogue and a "come back and look anytime" from a pretty sales model.

My excuse came in the way of a significant job promotion. Surely the jump to VP deserved some form of self-indulgence....right? It took a month for the promotion to become official and in the meantime I visited the Breitling site, and read your discussions everyday....I must have viewed the Super-Ocean review video by our site administrator a dozen times.....

Finally the promotion was official. On saturday morning I had to pick friends up at the Airport at 11:30, but first I had to "run up town and pick up a Breitling". I liked the Idea of telling my friends, sorry I was a little late, "I had to run up town and pick up a Breitling". My AD experience was just fabulous I approached the door exactly as the manager was unlocking it at staight up 10 O'clock on a beautiful sunny November Saturday morning....Guys, I still got one foot in the trailer court if you know what I mean, and here I am being served wonderful coffee on a sterling silver tray, by a spokes-model, the only customer in a serious up-town jewelery store it was all about me.

Anyway, I don't blame anyone for not reading this long post, but I felt many of you were a part of the prosess that led me here.
