About me:
It's been less than a year since I've been into watches. A co-worker of mine actually got me into it. In the beginning, he would "educate me" about his high end Swiss and Japanese watches. I couldn't see how he could spend so much money on watches. In fact, I thought it was outright ridiculous. It wasn't until my first visit to an Omega AD some months later where I fell in love. When I wore that two thousand dollar watch it was as if I was hypnotized.

My first high end watch was a hand-me-down from my dad, a Rolex DateJust - silver "linen" dial, stick markers with tritium lume dots, jubilee bracelet, acrylic crystal. He wore it since 1982 up until a few years ago. My first high end watch I purchased on my own was an Omega Seamaster Pro. Beautiful watch it is. The luminova lume on the SMP has yet to be rivalled by any watch I've witnessed so far. It glows like a torch throughout the night. The Rolex was well made but the feel of a new Omega SMP was just something very different. My first Breitling was a B-2. An AD was offering it with a deep discount and I pulled the trigger. From then on it's been a rollercoaster ride that's made a big dent in my wallet. Wow. But it's a passion and I wouldn't want to be addicted to anything else. I love it.

What I think about Breitling watches:
Style, is unrivalled by any other watch company. Beautiful cases, bracelets, dials, etc. I realize with many collectors it's a love it or hate it with Breitling. The design is not classic. It's progressive and modern. It doesn't rank high on price-to-value but few high end watches do. Breitling today produces watches of dissimilar quality than it did in the early to mid 1990's. Though by the way some WIS talk of the brand, the stigma of the 90's is still carried today. In terms of movements, I would like to see them heading in the same direction as IWC. They need to be more innovative and add more value to their assembly. Either that, or invest the money and time into making their own movements. I would like to see a Breitling manufactured movement in the near future.

I'm passionate about watches and spend a lot of time reading about them but with what little I know so far I realize I know nearly nothing. The great thing is there are LOTS of knowledgable folks out there willing to share. I learn something new everyday.
