...............from hot and sunny Arizona, in the USofA!!!

I've typically thought about watches in terms of a time & date reference, helpful chrono tools and bling - not so much interest in movements, specific brands or the engineering marvel of a complex timepiece. Having confessed that, I have 2 Breitlings - an Aerospace (F56059, 1992, identified as a Navitimer on the dial and case back) and a 1999 Intruder (A51035) - both purchased new. The rest of my watch mini-collection looks like a dog's breakfast: automatic + quartz; outdoor (with altimeter, temperature, etc.) + sport + dress; bands in gold + leather + titanium; and brands are Breitling, Rolex, Omega, Baume & Mercier, Noblia/Citizen, Casio, and a few that I refuse to list - all AD purchases.

Breitling recently declared the Intruder as DOA and not repairable. Now there's a replacement decision for the sport-wear rotation duties of the Intruder. I'm leaning towards the Colt Chronograph II. The research for the replacement of the Intruder and related lurking on BS has stimulated a deeper interest in watches. I now risk adding timepieces to my hobby/avocation list. :supereek:

My interests include hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, international travel, and pistol craft. My current project is doing a full strip-down + rebuild of a 1904 Fay-Sholes typewriter. My most interesting collection consists of eagle statues from around the world, carved in a wide variety materials including bone, stone, precious metals, wood, crystal, purple clay and jade.

I look forward to learning and asking a few questions in the near future.
