Post subject:  Newbie here needs some advice on first Breitling purchase

Hi guys,

I am considering buying a Breitling from a local marketplace website. The seller has been very well communicating with me.

Now I post the link to the watch advertisement below. He has it already reserved for me. Based upon the photos, could you please advise me to what this watch is worth?

I just want to make sure that I didn't offer too much. You may tell me your estimate in Euro or Us$.

Thanks

There is nothing wrong with this watch

It doesn't have a date font because it's a 30011, not a 30012, not because it's a fake!

This is a very early Chrono Cockpit - essentially a Chrono Sextant with an automatic movement, will date to the early 90s. Even with the gold bezel it's not going to be worth a fortune because it's a fairly old watch - maybe $1,500 - not many of these to compare against.

I have to pay 1500 US$ for this one... Is it worth it? The watch is from 1993 and is model nr. D30011.

Should I buy it or not, I really like the watch but am not sure if I am paying too much for this..

Well your price is my estimate.

I don't think $1,500 is overpaying, but I also don't think it's a great deal. Unless you have evidence to the contrary you have to factor the cost of a service into it - $400 - $500, so unless you know there was a recent service I'd probably pass. You are paying a premium of maybe $400+ for the gold bezel.

In that case, enjoy as it looks like you may have already committed to buying it.
