The nickname is Volvomania, I have had that for over 10 years now as one of the other hobbies has to do with that particular make.
Bought my first Ling in 2000, an NOS Jupiter pilot on a blue leather strap as I needed a good watch with an alarm and a calculator.
That watch was in daily service under the African sun until 2004 and was my daily watch until earlier this year when I sent it in for servicing (could no longer use the ring as it had been worn away, the glass was badly scored,....). Got it back from B'ling in better than new condition. Bought myself the metal bracelet at the same time.
This year I got struck seriously by the B'ling flew and have bought a B-1 and B-2.
The AD has been so kind as to give ma a stand each time I bought one (besides a wicked deal).
The Jupiter Pilot is a wonderfull piece, simple yet very usefull.
Modest yet recognisable by those who know (usefull if you fly a lot) so you don't get the "Is it real" questions.
The B-1 is a wonderfull piece, can't keep my eyes of her but in one way or another I am allways worried about her. At least once a day one get asked "Is it real???" Shows how much people watch the others watch.
The B-2 is like the B-1 but without the worries.
All 3 watches make me smile everytime I see them!
At present I am looking at a next Ling, still have to find a reason why.
