Hello everyone;
My name is Ben and I'm trying to research a Breitling watch which was given to me while I was working in Iraq during the 2nd Gulf War in 2003.

When I got this watch I had it varified in the Breitling store in Jordon, who confirmed that is was the real deal and confirmed the date is was made etc.

Since then the watch has been layng in my junk box till now, however I have lost all the info the guy in Jordon passed onto me ref this watch.

Can anyone shed some light on what model and what year it was made please?
I can forward some photos if it would help?

Watch details:
Black face, with 3 smaller dials and a date box
Stainless steel including the wrist strap
Has a picture of a gold plane inside a gold circle stamped on the back cover
Large serial number reads: 81950
Plus there are a set of smaller; almost worn off numbers underneath;which reads: 0343

If anyone can shed some light on this I would be greatfull.

Regards Ben

:welcome:

As Fred says, the ref # of the watch (81950) indicates a Chronomat. The additional numbers underneath are the serial.

Because the watch has a plane on the back (it's an Aermacchi MB-339 btw), it could be one of the very first of the Chonomats made in 1984. Does it look like this?

If so, that's a very rare and valuable watch you have!

Post us up some pictures. It's the easiest way for identification.

Welcome to BreitlingSource, and as Driver8 says, post up some pics and we'll soon confirm it.

Thanks for help on this and yes its looks identical to the watches in the links you gave me.
The only difference is that is has a unpolished bullet stainless steel wrist band.

Ive uploaded two photos for you to look at.

Any idea how much it is worth and should I consider insuring it?
Thanks again...

Advice in the FAQs is to check completed eBay sales and dealer asking prices on Chrono24. You'll see a lot on Chrono24 and not particularly valuable - http://www.chrono24.com/en/search/index ... tview=list

Yours may fetch a little more because it is very early (pre modern wings logo which puts it in the first few hundred produced) but not materially so.

Maybe the asking prices on the links are "optimistic"

I'd still expect it to fetch a lot more than one made a year later.
