Hi All,

I've been thinking about getting a 'proper' watch for a while now, and researched loads online (IWC, Bremont, Rolex, Nomos, Frederique Constant, Omega, Longines - you name it I probably looked at it). I kept finding myself drawn back to the Breitling Navitimer 01, although I was a little worried that it might be a bit too 'blingy' for me.

With lots of research done, lots of help and advice from a friend who knows much more about watches than I ever will, I found myself in Burrells in Tunbridge Wells having narrowed the choices down to the Navitimer 01 or an IWC Portofino. My first thought was "That Breitling is way too big for my puny wrist", but when I tried it on it looked fine, and was actually not that much bigger than the watch I was wearing (Citizen Ecodrive). The salespeople were knowledgeable, enthustiastic, and happy for me to try on as many watches as I wanted.

In the end there was no contest. The Navitimer was even more beautiful in the flesh than the pictures give credit. The fact that it has Breitling's in house movement only made it more appealing, and I left the shop with it on my wrist (yes, I did pay for it too!). It came with a Bakelite case, which I guess I'm lucky to get from what I've read elsewhere about Breitling changing their boxes.

My wife was slightly horrified at the amount I'd spent, but she's still talking to me :) I couldn't be happier with it!

Awesome choice; Breitling doesn't come any better than that.
