Hey,
I've just received a Breitling Skyracer as a birthday present from my girlfriend. I was 40 yesterday and i've wanted a Breitling watch for about ten years but just couldn't justify paying that much money on myself. We chose the Skyracer purely on looks as i don't know a lot about movements etc. i didn't find the official website very helpful. Can anyone out there tell me anything about this model

Congratualtions (on the watch and the girlfriend).

Not sure quite what you are looking for in terms of information. The Skyracer is part of the Professional range, generally seen as the leading edge / innovative side of Breitling. This is also the only mechanical / automatic watch in the range - the others being SuperQuartz (battery) movements.

The unique feature of the Skyracer is the two hand Chronograph subdial at 9 o'clock that makes it easier to read the elapsed hours / minutes on the chronograph function.

If you want to know anything specific - just ask, we're a friendly bunch - usually

Welcome and congratulations!

Sweet girlfriend! I really like the Skyracer - it's the one I'd like to have the most in the Professional model series. I like the dial of the Skyracer, really beautiful!

A good place to start for specific info on the Skyracer is on Breitlingsource.com, in the "models" area. There you can also look around on all possible movements, straps, bracelets... And of course, if there's anything specific or similar you like to know, feel free to ask. This forum is a very friendly bunch!

Thanks lads,
It's good that there are sites like this, it makes me feel like i've not only bought a watch but also joined a group of people who appreciate good watches. That info about it being the only mechanical automatic watch in the range is what i was hoping for, it's nice to know when someone asks about the watch
Thanks again for your replies

Great choice, I am biased though as I got the same watch for my birthday last month. What dial colour did you have?
