Post subject:  My first Breitling- a Bentley GT!

I've been lurking on this site for the last week and thought it was about time for an introduction. Until recently, my watch lineup has been all quartz ... I own a Raymond Weil, a Seiko, and a Tag Heuer which I have had for 8 years. This was the crown jewel in my collection. I am in sales and recently closed a huge deal that I had been working on for over a year. I decided to use this as an excuse to treat myself to a new time piece. The bug for Breitlings hit me when my wife and I recently took a cruise through the Greek islands ending in Istanbul. We took a tour of the city there with these 2 Texans. One of the Texans noticed I kept checking out the watches every time we passed a shop. He owned his Breitling Aerospace for 10 years and could not say enough good things about it. I had seen Breitlings in the past but didn't know anything about them, let alone how much they cost! I was not planning to spend more then 2 grand until the Lingitis set in. On the way back home, we had a 6 hour layover at London Heathrow. When I realized they had a watch store, that 6 hours flew by! A black-faced, steel bracelet 38mm Navitimer Montbrillant pulled on me but it was grossly overpriced. I loved the watch but am very glad I did not buy it as it seems that UK ADs are way overpriced. Anyway, we got home last weekend but all I could think about was that beautiful Montbrillant. Finding this site did not help my will power. In the following days, I spent hours on this site and the Breitling site checking out different models. On Friday, I broke down and decided to swing down to my nearest AD to look in person. After tearing my hair out for an hour, I narrowed my choice down to a Montbrillant Datora, a Superocean and the Bentley GT. As you can see in the pic below, it was the Bentley GT that spoke to me loudest! I am loving it. Here's a pic I snapped yesterday. Looking forward to spending more time on this great forum!

Welcome aboard, and very nice write-up. You made a great choice, though I have to say I don't think you could make a bad one if you tried with the Breitling lineup ;)

Keep closing more deals, keep treating yourself, life is too short :)

Nice choice - my favourite Bentley.

You're right about the prices charged in the UK as well.

Don't you just hate it when that happens!

You'll probably find that if you hang around here much, quite a few other models will start shouting at you too! :D

Welcome aboard.

Good choice, good story... The Heathrow AD was not willing to discount at all for me, feeding me something about a supply problem with Breitling and that he has long waiting lists for most models. Nice guy though, but a shit salesman, given that he's at an airport where most people can (and probably will) buy cheaper overseas.
