Newbie to this forum. Found it looking for a used Breitling.

Been looking for a decent deal on a Super Avenger.For myself. It will be my first higher end watch. Maybe you folks can provide some guidance?

It seem this model can be had for about $4400 brand new from the breiling stores and Costco. But used ones seem to bring around $3500 or so with boxes, paperwork, links etc... Am I right so far?

So why would I. or should look at a used watch for a $800-$900 difference? Or shouldn't I?

I have missed a couple at around 3k.. and the Evolution post for sale here is appealing, but I think I want the new model, to hold the value better..etc... ???

If you are looking fro a Breitling to hold it's value then it's not going to happen. No reason in the world to buy grey market new (like Costco) over used, and in fact used would be likely better as you will have some remaining warranty where as new from grey market has no warranty. On the other hand, new from an AD gives you the full warranty and you can certainly find used cheaper than $3,500.

I was thinking the new models would hold it value .. better.. Than a old one. Like.. if I go drop $4500 on the super avenger... Next year maybe I could sell it for $3000... so I rented it for $1500.. lol

I'm really worried about buying a Fake one too.. I would be pretty pissed if I got burned on a used one.

In regards to costco.. I read their warranty is better than Breitling? After all, it is the same watch, right?

Any ideas where I can find a Super avenger with steel band in the 3-3500 range, with all the paperwork and guaranteed ?

Costco offer their own exchange warranty, no Breitling warranty at all. If it goes wrong you can take it back, but you can't get it fixed.

Super Avengers come up all the time on eBay, Chrono24, the sales section here and on the other watch forums, just keep your eyes open.

Ahh.. No repair. Ok. Replacement is even better. But will call them in a minute to check on everything..

Why do I see USED SA's for sale at retail or above ? I don't understand this.

Are you sure that they aren't Blacksteel or diamond bezel versions that have higher list prices?

Costco says its a lifetime warranty.. repair and or replace.. But nothing in writing, other than " satisfaction Guaranteed" . He also said it "kinda" depends how much you buy from them. The more you buy, the more they are willing to take care of the problem.

No, There is one ending soon on ebay with a BIN for $4500.. And there are new one's I've seen in the low to mid 5's..

Buy they're not selling - just someone trying to take advantage of people who don't know what they are doing.

In terms of Costco repair - they are not authorised and therefore do not have access to Breitling parts - you may as well take it to the local pawn shop to repair it.

Went to a few Breitling stores... they are not discounting a ton.. And I'm not too sure on the super avenger watch any more.. seems really thick to me.. I'm ok with the width though...

The SA IS really thick! If you like the width, but not the height, it might be worth looking at the majority of the Bentley models, or the Chronomatic 49. They're all wide, but much lower profile. (Bit more money though.....)

The shops on the Vegas Strip are notorious for not offering much discount. There are occasional exceptions, but most folks here use the Vegas shops as places to check out various watches, then get them at ADs in other locations. The Super Avenger may be moot now for you, but as an example it retails for $5490. 25% discounts are readily attainable at many ADs. Sometimes even better. This also shows why the COSTCO or other gray market places are not that good a deal especially without the factory warranty.
