Hello gentlemen (or do we also have any lady collectors/afficionado's?)

I'm also new to this forum. Not sure if I can contribute at all to the discussion, as I am just a collector of old watches - and not in a very structured way. Found this site, and must say: it looks sophisticated to me, the forum is populated by pleasant peolple who as a collective seem to know quite a lot about the subject.

One of the watches in my "collection" is a Breitling Chronograph. On the back I found two (serial?)numbers
0 - 259982
and
417202

There is also an inscription, dated August 1942.

I did not really find any information - or did I overlook?
Could someone shed some light?

Many thanks

2annire8

Welcome to BreitlingSource!

Post some pictures of the watch in the vintage section and we'll let you know what we can.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to post your question in the Vintage section, though you should please include pictures of the watch, ideally including movement and inside/outside caseback.

I do not recognize the first number and it does not fit into the expected reference range, the 4xxxxx number could be a period correct serial number, though anything before 1944 is not documented.
