Post subject: | New Chrono Evo Owner in VA |
Just want to say hi, this board has been very helpful in picking out my new EVO. The AD here in town royally ticked me off last week, and I used the recommendations on the board to buy my new Evo from Authentic Watches.com. Proud new owner of a gold/stainless Evo with matching bracelet and MOP face (all serial #'s, literature intact), just no factory warranty. I figured for $2000 less than the Ad wanted, I could afford to have it worked on if necessary, as long as it was authentic. This board is a great source of help/info and was definitely appreciated in my search. Tom |

Welcome aboard, fellow Virginian. Enjoy your watch in good health. If your AD is the same one as mine, you had a very different experience than I did, and I'm sorry to hear that. I'm glad everything worked out in the end. |

Cowbell, the AD in question at Stony Point has been where I've bought a lot of my watches, and they won't get any more of my money. I was in there on a Wed., got prices on the EVO & Cockpit Chrono on her card and told her I was going to make a decision soon. Called back on Fri., asked if they still had the EVO. They did, and then I was told that they'd had a price increase and that the price she'd given me wasn't valid any longer, and that the price was now over $900 more. I said, "wait a minute, this is the same watch you showed me on Wed., and not a new order, right"? She acknowledged that it was, and I told her that I couldn't see any reason why she couldn't honor her 2 day old quote on that same watch! She refused, and I told her, "you just lost a sale, then, and any additional future business from me". You'd think with all the watches that I have bought from them that they'd be a little more flexible than that. They also PO'ed my buddy off on his Tag that he bought at the exchange, and was still under warranty. His bracelet broke, and he took it in there on my recommendation, gave them the warranty card, and they sent the watch back to Tag to repair the bracelet. When it came back they called him and told him to come pick it up, and that the bill was over $200! He went ballistic, went in there and raised hell with them, and the best they could offer was that he hadn't bought the watch from them, therefore the charge. Needless to say, with it still being under warranty, he didn't pay for it, and he won't go back either. It's unfortunate, as they're really the only game in town for buying a decent watch. Luckily, with the internet, you don't have to travel great distances to buy something like this any longer. tom |
