I have just joined and I have recently bought a Breitling Colt GMT. I bought it from a UK forum and the guy had been on it for a while and had good feedback from previous sales. Although in the pictures it looked a bit rough in person it was not too bad. There was no paperwork so I managed to get it for a good price. I found out from here how to date it using the numbers between then lugs at 6. A called Breitling service UK and they had not had that serial number in for a service. As it was 6 years old I have put it in for a full service and from what I have seen from the service videos it should come back almost like new but with official paperwork. So in the end I will have a good looking Breitling at less that half new cost. Just a shame I have to wait 12 weeks to get it back.

When I was younger a watch was just a watch so I used to buy cheap watches and when they broke or were unwearable I bought a new one. And I just had one! I could not believe that people would pay so much for a watch that basically did the same as a cheap one. Almost 2 years ago I bought an automatic (Seapro sub homage) which was really nice and I received a lot of compliments which I never had before and started to get interested in watches. Now I have a number of watches. On a project I was working on I saw a really nice watch that one of the guys was wearing. Blue dial with 2 tone. It was a Breitling. I had heard of the name and went to the shop that weekend to see how much it cost. At £6,200 I almost had a heart attack. But slowly I have been building up and can now say that I own a Breitling even if it is the Colt range which seems to be the introductory range. It has been a long time coming but it is good to own one.

I would like to buy more and seeing how good the Breitling service is it would be good to get another bargain and get it done properly but it is a minefield out there with replicas. So I have been reading up on how to spot them. This place is a very good reference and I still have a lot to learn as when I look at some of the ones that have been called out as fakes I can not see it.
