I have been drooling over Breitlings for several years now, especially the Navitimers. They have always been way out of my price range, I mean WAY out there. Until now. A little over a week ago I wandered into a small pawn shoppe just to see what was out there. There was the typical showcase full of non-descript cheap quartzes of unknown origin mostly. After asking the pawn broker what else he had he began hauling out some old really high-mileage Rolexes that looked like they'd cost more to restore than to purchase. I was about to leave when he said he had a Breitling I might be interested in. Natural, albeit skeptical, curiosity took hold and I said "show me." Out he came with this instantly recognizable Navitimer. What he didn't know, as neither did I, that it was the iconic 81616 of 1987, the first Nav to house the 7750 and one of the few with the sub-dials at 6-9-12 instead of the more typical 3-6-9. After a bit of give and take I finally took it home. It even has the original Breitling 7-row bracelet. I still can't believe I actually own a Navitimer. The bracelet being a bit snug-fitting makes me wonder where in the world I could find spare links for this job. |

If you are in the US you can call BUSA directly and order extra links assuming the bracelet is of a size still made. Congrats on the Navi. Sounds like finding buried treasure. |
