Hi, well, how can i top that last intro !? I`m looking to take the big (nervous!) plunge and buy my first Breitling, been checking out what info is available on this great site, i`m not confident enough to buy from the internet but the prices are sometimes very tempting- but went today to my local reputable AD (surprised that they weren`t very helpful) to see them in the flesh! One question , what`s the ladies model that has the second hand seeming to `jump` every 5 secs or so? (best i can describe it!) the swing tag didn`t have the model name and the girl in the shop didn`t know either! Anyhows i have phoned Breitling and they are sending me a catalogue -can`t wait !

Welcome to BreitlingSource.

The model you saw is one with a battery that's about to die!

That's an End of Life indicator, not a model feature.

Breitling don't make a ladies mechanical model (though some are small enough for a lady's wrist), so they all 'tick' once a second rather than sweep.

I think i know what you mean, where the second hand seems stuck but just twitching .... but this one was moving every few seconds- if you watched it you thought you were seeing things, then it would move again to the next digit, i have seen clocks do the same on the minute hand , a solid "move", not twitchy in any way.

Quartz watches (generally) move once per second where as mechanical watches move multiple times per second. However, many higher end quartz watches, including a lot of Breitlings, have a battery EOL indicator where the second hand moves less often - 2 seconds is common, so effectively only 30 movements in a minute instead of the usual 60.
