Hello everyone - I'm new to the site, and just want to introduce myself. I purchased a Colt Ocean Quartz in 2000. About a year ago, the battery finally died. I called the nearest AD who informed me the watch would be packed up and shipped to Breitling USA for a "quote" for a battery change. During the time I wore the watch, I was quite impressed with the durability and trouble-free qualities of the watch. Upon hearing I had to send it off for a "quote", I tossed it in the drawer and grabbed my Hamilton Khaki Navy Automatic.

Last weekend, it a fit of boredom, I got online and found another Breitling dealer and dropped in on him. I asked if he could handle sending my Colt off for a quote for a battery change, and he smiled and said "I can change the battery for you". $60 and a half hour later, and the I'm back in business.

During that 1/2 hour, I made the impulse decision to purchase a brand new model of the Colt Quartz, and walked out with it on my wrist. Now, in my header I say I have minimalist tastes -reason being I'm not a pilot, have no need for dual time zones, etc., and the Hamilton I wore was a true pain to keep wound as I sometimes go the weekend without wearing a watch. Quartz watches suit me best due to their worry free care and great accuracy.

I lurked here for a couple of days, and find myself kicking the idea around to head back to the AD and pick up a little something nice for myself in an automatic. I guess you could say I'm a revived Breitling owner, and will probably divert funds from my other hobbies so I can get a collection started much like what I've seen here on the forum. Just what I need, another addiction.
