Well, it sounds like you ended up with the sweet end of the their islands trip :) . My father definately appreciates the finer things, he has several nice "things", his most recent watch is one of the Cartier Santos models.

An appreciation of the finer things in life is good as long as you do not lose your sense of value and understanding of the hard work required to get to that point. At one point in my youth, I thought the silver platter would be there for life, and then it all went away, poof, just like that  . It was a good lesson learned at the right time, because from that point forward I realized whatever I would make for myself would have to be driven by my own motivations and ambitions.

Congrats on the deans list!! It is good to realize the importance of doing your best. You are young, cde1218, take advantage of your youth and pave your own path and be true to yourself. Sounds like you are heading in that direction. Good luck and take care!!

Great sentiments. I never even saw the silver platter growing up, and now I'm glad - working for everything I have gives me a sense of gratitude and ensures I won't take things for granted. cde1218, you clearly have your head screwed on straight!
