Hi, I have been lurking on here for a couple of years now as a visitor. I was reading a post which made me think that I should join at last. The circumstances were similar to me and my getting a Breitling.

I have a Chronomat 808. The watch was purchased brand new by my brother in law,I think in about 1970.
However, he didnt like it, he always said that it was too big and he didnt feel comfatable wearing it. So he only ever wore it a few times. He put it in a drawer and said that I could have it. He knew that I like nice watches.

He died suddenly in 1974.Its a long story but it sat in the drawer until two years ago when it was finally passed to me.

So I got the watch two years ago, I had it serviced and now use it all the time.

I will post some pictures of it and will be asking if you would be kind enough to tell me a bit more about it.

Welcome to the forum, it appears you have much more than a watch, but a true family heirloom. Wear it in good health and make sure it's always kept freshly serviced, this should be a good one to pass down through the generations.

Sorry I can't help with the vintage pieces, but there are plenty here who can.

A couple of exchanges on your 808 thread already, but a formal welcome to BreitlingSource.
