I just found this site today and am introducing myself.

I purchased my first serious watch over 30 years ago - a Rolex Day Date which I still own. I wore that watch everyday for 16 years. In 1995, I took my watch to the the Rolex Service Center in New York (they had previously serviced my watch) and while they agreed to service my watch, they refused to touch the bracelet because they said it was worn out.

You cannot imagine how upset I was and decided to purchase a new watch instead of paying the ridiculous price that the RSC wanted for a replacement bracelet.

That is when I purchased my AP Royal Oak as my new everyday watch. I wore my RO every day for the next four years at which time I started to expand my collection of watches. I had admired the Breitling Navitimers for some time and when I heard that the "Old" Navitimer was going to be discontinued, I purchased one. Since then, I have purchased additional watches - Patek, Breguet, Cartier, IWC, TAG and Rolex.

The Patek was sold to finance the purchased of some of the others. I gave the IWC, Cartier and TAG and a few others minor brands not mentioned above to my two sons.

I still have the "Old" Navitimer and wear it as one of my two everyday watches in rotation with my Rolex GMT II Ceramic watch. Except for some minor scratches from normal wear, my Navitimer is as good as it was when brand new. Over the past two weeks, it lost only one second.

I am looking forward to visiting this forum on a regular basis.
