Greetings Breitling aficionados . . . I am a lady seeking help in getting her fiance a new Breitling as an engagement gift. He is drooling over the Navitimer World with the blue face. I would like to get him the steel bracelet version as well as a brown leather band, and could use your help getting acclimated . . . and hopefully not taken advantage of!! :)

What is the MSRP for what I've described? From what I've seen, it would be about $6,700 for the ss version and an additional $700 for the brown leather band. Does that sound correct?

Also, what's the price I should "expect" to pay for it? It seems like I should not expect to pay retail even at an AD. What's the "standard" discount off of MSRP?

Lastly, I would like to get him a watch winder for this and other timepieces. It should be stylish (he likes rich wood colors), quiet, durable, and (ideally) should hold at least 2 timepieces. I see that prices vary drastically - what's a great brand that offers something I've described for $1k or less? Also should I go for a battery run option or electrical?

Sorry for all the questions, my fiance knows a lot about these things but obviously I can't ask him!! Thank you all so much for your input.

Welcome to BreitlingSource, and congratulations on the upcoming wedding!

I'm guessing from your quote of $ prices that you are in the US so send a PM to jnelson3097 and he will put you in touch with the famous George at Govberg Jewelers in Philly. He'll quote you a price that is as good as anything that you cvan get in the US without risking an AD that is breaking the rules - that's better than speculating on discount.

This site lists the World on the Navitimer bracelet at $6,800, and I think that was pre-increase, so your list may be a little low.

In terms of leather there are two leathers - calf and croc. Take a look at www.breilting.co.jp/fitting (no Japanese needed) and you can see the styles. Croc is more expensive, and looks a little dressier in my opinion - I love it, even for the extra cash. There are also two types of buckle, tang and deployant. Tang is the traditional pin type buckle, deployant is more like a bracelt style clasp, it's infinitely adjustable, and again, to me it's much preferred - of course that's also more expensive! Prices were (again I think a slight increase) $160 for calf on tang, $400 for calf on deployant, $480 for croc on tang and $720 for croc on deployant. Buy at the same time as you get the watch and you should get a decent discount.

Watchwinders are a little more of a controversial subject. However, with a budget of $1,000 for a 2 watch winder you are in to some pretty serious winders, though not the luxury ones. This is a minefield of risky technology - there are super expensive winders that can fail and cheap Chinese ones that last for a couple of years or more. At this price point my advice would be buy one that appeals to you visually and make sure that there's a good warranty.
