Post subject:  Landeron 51 with Breitling bridge?

Hi

I'm currently looking at a 1000$ vintage chronograph in Europe. Refinished dial. No serial or ref. nr.

It states "Breitling" on dial and on the bridge (attached photo), but it has a landeron movement (..right?). Browsing these forums alerted me to the fact, that vintage Breitling watches generally have venus movements in the 40s and 50s. So is this Breitling bridge a fake?

I'm not a collector and I like the look of the watch despite its modifications. I just don't wanna pay extra for a "Breitling", which is just an unknown vintage chronograph.

Thank you for your help. Appreciated.

Best regards
Val

Its fake for sure. No serial number is the surest way to know.

Thank you for a quick reply! Most appreciated.

Ok. But what if the case with the serial number had been changed for an example, how would one identify a modified Breitling? (asking out of ignorance)

What you have here is a 100% fake watch (I’m saying that based on the single picture of a Landeron with a fake chrono bridge so maybe I’m missing something). A parallel would be like if you ordered a kit car, with a small block Chevy engine in it, and then put a replica Porsche badge on the hood and tried to say it was sort of a Porsche. In the unlikely event that you ever found a watch with a real dial and a movement taken from a Breitling and put into another case, you would never be able to prove it started off life all together and in any case would be worthless and considered a fake/frankenwatch. Hope this is helpful.
