Hello all. Hoping you can help me here. I found a Breitling Top Time 810 from a reputable dealer, and they claim this watch is all original. However when I look at the caseback it appears to be worked on by Breitling. The caseback also looks out of the ordinary. If anyone could provide info on this watch I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks Buddman! Would this affect the value? Do you think the case, dial, crown, etc. are all original to this watch or put together separately? They are asking $4600.00 so want to make sure this is a good watch.

The buyer backed out and they have it on hold for me. I'm trying to do due diligence to make sure it is an original watch at fair value.

It looks all fine. It’s on the upper end of price for the panda, but the dial looks lovely and often worth paying a bit extra for that.

It looks like it went into the US Service Center for Breitling. Someone by the name of Mark Heist. He did servicing on watch.

It looks like he would replace most parts during service and possibly refinish the dial from looking at his site. Do you think this is most likely the case?

I had previously responded to your question “No he might replace parts but he replaces with the correct parts. The watch is 60 years old - how do you know what’s happened to it in that time?”, but now I am wondering if the dial is a replacement. It has that radial pattern to it that you see on ref 815.

I’ll let others reply as I’m not sure.

I do not. Pictures of the movement show that the movement has some wear on it, which is normal. But the outside looks like NOS. This leads me to believe most everything was restored with correct replacement parts. Most collectors want original parts in good condition and like you mentioned this watch is on the upper end of the price spectrum. I think it would be rare to have a movement that is showing wear but the entire outside of watch looking NOS.

Was just told by the US Breitling Service Center that this was a full restoration and everything, including dial has been restored and replaced. You were correct. I appreciate your help on this.
