I assume this is franken, it has an 810 dial and case but 815 hands and a 7736 movement and is listed as an 815 transition which I doubt ever existed.

Or is it real?

a strange case indeed: a watch that shouldn‘t exist and according to ledgers was never manufactured. but we saw these dials before - dials aren‘t interchangeable between the Venus 178 and the Valjoux 7736 (so I was told, never verified personally) and the dial sure has all the “OEM quality” characteristics that indicate professional mass production.

we may never know, but would love to.

Fred - Similar franken one on eBay last week with 810 dial on 7736 movement.

I checked last night - the dials are interchangeable but the dial feet would need to be moved. The subdials are in the same positions.

the spare dials we have seen didn‘t show any signs of repositioning of the dial feet, something that can‘t be done without a trace? does the dial you have show any signs of that?

I don't have a 'transitionals' just orginal 810 and 815 dials. I tried to fit an 815 dial to a V178 base plate. Subdials match but the dial feet don't.

Sorry to come in late here, but was this watch determined to be legit?

facts:
production ledgers tell us this watch shouldn’t exist, all 810 are marked „V178“ or later „7738“, the Valjoux ref. number for the Venus 178.

but we saw some spare dials marked Top Time that were designed for the 7736 and saw some of these watches.

no records/proof if these were assembled by „scavengers“ from dead stock parts after Breitling closed down production or last ditch efforts at Breitling to use up remaining cases and other parts before that.

Got it, thank you for the info. So no real way of knowing 100% whether this was constructed in the Breitling factory.

I think this dial is a reprint. I went on Google images and copied just the first 6 810 panda dial images. The Top Time logo fonts are consistent on them all.

Compare that to the questionable one under discussion here. Look at the “M”. The "T" in Top is below the "O" next to it. Not right.

Or, if it was made by a Breitling, it wasn’t made from left over 810 dials, but newly made dials.

dials are incompatible, so needed to be specifically produced
