Sent this note to the seller - Your Breitling is a total fake! I have been restoring vintage watches for 15 years - Google chronodeco. It is an embarrassment that someone so close to my hometown of Bellingham would not know what a bad fake this is. Post it on Breitliingsource if you are still in doubt. The Breitling Museum is a BULL S*** TRIP!
His response - Chillax dude. You have an opinion based on pictures. As they say "opinions are like a**holes--everyone has one and most stink".

I don't know of anyone who would fake an old watch to such an extent, like engraving the bridge with depth and color--and for what? to make $700? It costs more than that in time and money to try to make a fake. Fakes are mass produced in China where a large unit volume and low manufacturing cost makes economic sense. Like a Chinese factory can stamp out 10,000 fake Rolexs at a cost of $10/each and sell each at $100. I've had this watch for years as part of my collection and you're the first to raise fakeness allegations. You wanna see fake, look on Craigslist and you'll see endless fake $4-8k modern Breitlings selling for $200.

Here is the watch - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1940s-B ... SwFNZWyjlm

Don't even need to look beyond the "Breitling" script on the dial. Looks like it was hand written. And the script colour... well let's just say its amazing how well the black colour has held up over the years, eh?

used, Craig, u serviced two for me ?
ref. 2100 w/ a cal. 48 & ref. 761 w/ you hated cal. 39

guy IS a true believer.....

me: are u aware of the fact that watch is a pathetic fake ?

kohalacoastgabe: I have absolutely no reason to think that, and I suspect collusion between you and another member on here. I've had it for years, paid good money for it and have no idea why someone would fake a watch that usually sells for ~$700. I can't imagine the effort of creating a dial, engraving the bridge in an arched pattern etc. You random comment is no different from pointing to any of my other collected watches, like the Omega and LeCoultre in the picture, and labeling them "fake" for sport.

me: well, fooling yourself is fine, ripping off buyers isn't
post the watch for verification on the breitlingsource dot com vintage forum.
sadly there is no doubt whatsoever - wrong movement, wrong case, no serial and reference.

yes, even $200 watches are faked in large quantities.

LeCoultre and Omega look perfectly fine, btw.

kohalacoastgabe: bretilingsource is not a "verification website". It is people's opinions. I've seen threads that claim Breitling never used Landeron movements, and then threads that claimed they did, waiting for Venus. Everyone thinks they're right. There's no consensus, just a bunch of opinions. I don't get who would fake a watch like this and to such level of precision

me: precision ? what precision when all is wrong with your watch ?

to be continued, I'm afraid

FWIW I tried too. But gave up. Same back and forth. Whatever. Have better things to do.
