Hi Everybody.

After a 7 year search I found my favourite Breitling dial design (again, this time i managed to buy it). Previously I have seen a similar Design twice (there is an old Topic about this on the Forum). I was never sure if these dials/watches were really made by Breitlung. Since i really like the Design I had to have it but I am not sure if it is genuine. Your thoughts would be highly valued.

Many thanks
Chris

this one is different from any other 1940'ies Breitling
also missing reference number on the back and un-Breitling like engraving on the inside
I have never focussed much on these myself (Fred may have more info ?) but if I was offered this one I'd discard it as fake/franken as I don't like the overall 'look and feel' of this watch

hmm.......
serial is from a period when ref. numbers were still not stamoed in the watches, unsigned movement is correct, but the serial seems engraved, not stamped, also the case markings bear no resemblance to other GP Breitling of the period.

on the fence, but leaning so far towards (good!) fake so I'm close to falling off.

Chris,

See my post from a few minutes ago here:

I recently purchased a watch that's demonstrably similar to what you're looking at from the same seller. That's either really good or really bad. I'm interested to hear the forum's thoughts.
