ouch is the only thing I can say here. some watches need to be verified in depth to find out if the are totally correct, frankenwatches or outright fakes. here it takes about 3 seconds to call it a pathetic fake. dial badly refinished, Breitling script logo totally wrong. the combination of script logo and Geneve never existed. watch case bears neither a period correct serial number nor a model reference. movement markings are wrong, caliber not used by Breitling. absolutely NOTHING is correct here. |

EBIDX%3AIT Wayne Why avoid Tourneau NYC because a questionable seller represents/claims that a fake watch was authenticated there? Or are there other reasons to avoid them? Desert Hiker |

You never, EVER take a vintage watch to a retailer for authentication. The VAST majority of the people working in the stores to include the major retailers have no idea what they are even looking at or what to look for when it comes to vintage watches. There are some exceptions of course but rare. For instance, the manager of my local Brietling store is a former Ralph Lauren manager and all his employees have zero watch experience, hired strictly on looks and not knowledge. Retailers are not the place for verification of authenticity. In the case of this retailer, yes, avoid if this is an example of what they consider correct for they no not what they are talking about!!! |
