Can anyone help provide some insight on the authenticity of this Breitling?

would like to see a much better (more in focus) picture of the dial and the inside of the caseback

but my first reaction is that its not genuine and fake

Thanks for your answers.
I do not have a picture of the inside of the caseback. Is it possible that the reference and serial number are inside the caseback?

would surprise me very much for ref. 17x Venus models. as said, dial & hands are clearly incorrect too.
yes, the price is tempting, but the watch isn't.

Ok. It looks pretty nice, but for a fake one...
For you, the venus calibre is also fake?

my error, 188 !

launched late 1940s, so clearly a period where all B had ref. numbers outside the caseback

Tanks a lot.
Just a newbie question.
The reference couldn't have diasappear following a polishing of the caseback?

I can't find the info.
When has the cal. 188 been launched (I found a Venus 188 from 1945 here : http://www.breitling-museum.com/1940-1949.html).

no clear info, 1948 was our assumption as the earliest launch date - claimed by Ranfft, other sources claim 1949.
any reference to that site is dangerous, 80% plus fakes.

We see this over and over and over... someone swept up by a watch like being in the grip of some kind of religion. A of true believer that just can't let it go!
