I am a complete vintage chrono newbie, and would welcome your assistance with any thoughts on this watch which is shortly coming up for auction. The available evidence, is not to overstate the position, sketchy ! If the consensus is that it is genuine, any thoughts on value would be greatly appreciated. I would also be interested to know what sort of movement it should have.

It is described as a pink gold Cadette from around 1950, with a signed dial, 38mm and "numbered 18". The auction estimate is €700 - 1,000. There is only the single photograph.

dial & hands seem correct & the case lugs do not show any of the "tells" of the hollow Chronographe Suisse lugs.

BUT: these are among the most faked models of all, so it could well be franken, IF the only numbers on the caseback are really the mentioned "18", the case isn't a Breitling case, it would have to be marked with a 4-digit model reference (118x or 119x) and a 6-digit serial.

Movement on these should be a Venus 188

so, to conclude: keep away if you have no way of getting caseback (inside and outside) & movement pics.

correct 18k "Cadette" sell between 1-1.5k.
