that is VERY strange. correct ref. no. should be 801, missing serial, dial refinished. mabe somebody fabbed a caseback or the complete case - the hallmarks are strange/atypical too. |

In fact an 801, don't think it would have a signed crown with those hands as they would be for a piece from the 40's not 1965. Would think this is a fabricated case back as Fred says for sure by an inexperienced person in the nuances of vintage Breitling. Don't think/hope this one will make it to auction day. |

Agree its a total fabrication Proof should be the G underneath the ladies head on the lug G is Geneve , but Breitling didnt move to Geneve until after 53 Ad altho there is no serial number this portrays to be older than 53 ?  And i cant read the number in the key shape hallmark but that shape hallmark has not been used by Breitling afaik ? |

I have notified auctionata (and RJ Broer informed them too) about several fakes in their last auction - even had a thread about that. they pulled them, just to relist and sell them in the next auction. They know little to nothing about watches and do not really care, apparently. |

It's so common with auction houses- I've had same kind of response from watches of knightsbridge. Even though it's an auction and buyer beware is imperative, the prices of these pieces are often as high as ebay, and with commission even higher sometimes, I've often ignored auctions because bargains are few and far between when factoring everything in. |
