Hi there I wonder if someone could help me to identify this Breitling, it used to belong to my grandfather but that's all I know about it.

I've never take the back case off a watch before, is there a certain way to do it?

I managed to get the casing off and here is the inside of the watch. Is there anyway to tell if this is a real Breitling and possibly what year it is?

I have merged your two threads, please don't double post.

Nothing from Breitling anywhere there as far as I am concerned.

I don't see anything that would indicate to me this isn't a genuine circa 1930's Breitling. The hands are consistent with period Breitling hands, the case design is consistent, the dial with Fab Suisse is consistent, the Landeron movements apparently were used in the 1930's, and the serial number is consistent with 1930's production. I'd like to own it. Looks like a winner to me unless anyone else can prove otherwise. The articulated lugs are the bomb.

another piece that proves how inconsistent the use of the Breitling logo on dials is, very early for that - but with Paul here, rare find and most probably correct, hands are typical for mid 1930s; lovely.

OK that's just weird, but looks like Paul has nailed it - wrong again

This is amazing thanks everyone for all the info. This watch was given to my grandfather by one of his clients back in the 1970's. As far as I know my grandfather never wore it and it sat in his dresser till he passed away in 2007.

I was wondering was it common for Breitling to not engrave their name on to their movements during this time? Also other then servicing should I get the watch refinished? Or would that affect the value of the watch? Personally I don't plan on selling it, but I am curious.

All I would recommend is a regular service and a new crystal. It will look 100% better with that yellowed crystal gone. You can clean up the case with a Cape Cod cloth.

So it's the crystal that has yellowed? I thought it was the dial that was turning yellow. Sorry I am still pretty new to watches so I don't know all the ins and outs yet.
