Just talked to this guy and made him aware of his watch which did not seem to change his mind about selling a franken at 4k. Watch pulled by seller.

I forwarded the message to EBay and reported him for whatever that is worth.

Seems to have had the desired effect.

I have talked with Andrew this morning and he is a REAL stand up guy. I got carried away and should not have posted the conversation which was NOT fair to Andrew at all. Andrew did in fact think his watch was authentic and after finding out it was not he pulled it from EBay. Most sellers today do not do that. I give Andrew kudos for doing this and would not hesitate to purchase from this man in the future.

Wayne,

I'm just curious, what are the issues with this watch that lead to its label as franken? To a casual owner like myself it looks ok so therefore I want to develop that eye.

Thank you,
Mike

Oh, this is an easy one. I wil just start with the obvious. It was listed as an 809 which is a Cosmonaut but as you look at the dial the first thing you notice is it has an 806 dial. As we look at the movement, someone had removed the gearing for the 24 hr. operation for the movement to tell time with the 24 hr dial on the 809 hence turning it into a franken 806. Notice the 809 case back. We have a problem!!
After talking long with the owner, he had no idea this had happened and was a victim himself. He was not up on Breitling at all being a Rolex guy and had been given a good deal so he thought. Shown the evidence in written form and not the spoken, he pulled the watch immediately. Real class guy and just got a bad watch. Far as I know, he was able to return it.

Best,
Wayne

Thank you Wayne for the explanation. I'm glad the seller was able to get his money back. It's unfortunate but not surprising on the number of watches like this floating around.
