no, watch is truly mint too; in line w/ the dial condition; rarely seen crisp caseback & bezel. what's worrying though is that Bill is re-inventing the Project 99 history and deciding the "race for the first automatic chronograph" in a rather creative way: Q: please supply full details of the watch A: What would you like to know? "........ In 1969, Breitling introduced the 1806 Navitimer Chrono-matic as the first ever automatic chronograph, beating the Zenith, et al., El Primero by just a few months. Breitling actually surreptitiously pre-marketed the 1806 as a pre-series with a Caliber 11 in 1968." Breitling marked some of the Cal.11 cases w/ serial number attributed to 1968 - just like we have 1953 AVI cases assembled in 1958, they clearly did not produce and sell cal. 11s for half a year before the official launch. |
