Cannot tell much about it being genuine, I am sure the experts can.

However I am pretty sure, it should have a bezel, otherwise you can't adjust the outer ring.
It looks like someone messed around mounting another "bezel", the pin at 30 doesn't belong there.
Also the dial is damaged below 10 o'clock and the date wheel seems a bit more sunken compared to pictures of an Original watch.

The outer ring of the dial seems to be positioned a lot higher because you can see an edge between the dial and the ring, which I didn't encounter on pictures of other watches of this model.
Perhaps they raised the dial itself also a bit, to bring it closer to the outer ring and maybe that's why the date wheel seems more sunken.

What do you think Fred? Messed up genuine watch, or?

Strange, what people can do. This (flat) scalering seems to be from a 806/809 and is not matching for a 1809. The original bezel pinion should be still under the wrong bezel. In this case you need only a replacement bezel with matching scalering. Check before, if the caseback is signed with 1809.
